Hitachi, Ltd. has recently commercialized an ultrahigh-precision multi-scanning color display monitor, CM751, with a 19-inch(18V) screen, the world's first of this size as a color display tube (CDT). The production of this product has started in April for US market. This product retains the high image quality and high-level features of the 21-inch(20V) color displays which the company has already commercialized and achieves a depth equal to that of the company's 17-inch (16V) displays with a compact space-saving design. This product is applicable to a variety of computers, ranging from windows base personal computers and Macintoshes to various CAD/CAM and high-end graphic boards.
Model
- Product name: 19-inch(18V) multi-scanning color display
- Model: CM751
(Accessories: Power cord, signal cable, and operating manual)The mainstream PC displays at the moment are 15- (14V)and 17- inch(16 V). The industry is producing displays with even higher resolutions, prompted by the spread of Windows* and that of PC CAD that is supplied in the form of graphics board that can be mounted in a computer to produce images with even higher resolutions. What is more, the public is calling for even larger displays. However, not a few users have been using 17-inch(16V) displays, because 21-inch(20V) ones are costly and occupy large spaces.
To meet these needs, Hitachi has now commercialized CM751, with the world first 19-inch(18V) size which fills the gap between the 17-(16 V) and 21-inch(20V) sizes.
CM751 covers a wide range of horizontal scanning frequencies from 31 kHz to 93 kHz, displays up to 1,600 dots by 1,200 lines (75Hz), and produces fricker-free images with high resolutions. The screen is adjusted in the same manner as in the company's 21-inch(20V) displays; that is, by newly equipped geometry "adjustment of right-side independent trapezoid" and "adjustment for right-side independent side pins." This makes it easier to adjust the screen and to achieve good picture geometry. Other features are power- saving and plug & play (adapted to VESA (Note 1) DDC (Note 2) 1/2B), along with compatibility with low-leakage electromagnetic fields (conforming to MPR-II (Note 3)). Also TCO 95 (Swedish recommendation for low magnetic and electric field and environmental consideration) compliant model is available as option.
Production of export-bound products has started in April. Export-bound shipments are projected to reach 400,000 units per year.
Note 1: A U.S. association aiming to standardize displays.
Note 2: A standard designed to produce displays in the best condition by exchanging data with personal computers in order to resolve trouble entailed in the use of personal computers and peripherals.
Note 3: Swedish regulations regarding low-leakage electric and magnetic fields.Features of CM751
1. CRT
1) A high-contrast CRT (with a transmittance of 46% (51% for Hitachi's 21-inch(20V) displays) is used to make the black look blacker, displaying images with lively contrast.
2) The CRT has an overall length 36mm shorter than that of Hitachi's 21-inch(20V) displays.
3) An A-EA-MDF (multi-step dynamic focus) electron gun is used to provide sharp images that can keep sharp focus at high luminance.2. Space-saving design
A compact, space-saving design based on a well-designed assembly structure results in the depth of the display equal to that of the company's 17-inch displays. This model is so space-saving that it is suited not only for office but also for home use.3. On-screen display of adjustments
Adjustments of screen size, screen position, picture geometry, and screen tilt can be done directly on the front control panel. These adjustments can easily be made by the user, thanks to an on-screen display which is enhanced from that of earlier models.4. Hitachi's unique picture geometry adjustment
This model incorporates "adjustment for right-side independent trapezoids" and "adjustment for right-side independent side pins." Thanks to these features, the user can set the display to the optimal conditions without repeated adjustment by adjusting the geometry at both ends of the screen independently, which used to be done repeatedly while balancing the right and left in earlier models.5. Registering user-adjusted screen conditions
The screen is factory-configured with five signal timings which are commonly used. The screen conditions (such as screen size and screen position) adjusted by the user according to how he or she likes to use it can be stored in 21 modes.6. Moire reduction
This model incorporates a feature for reducing moire (interference-induced stripes) produced by the interference of the mask pitch and display resolution of the CRT. This provides a clear screen.7. Power-saving and compatible with low-leakage electromagnetic fields
This model incorporates a power-saving feature, which detects the presence or absence of synchronous signals from a computer and stops the display, thus reducing power consumption when the computer is not used. < BR> (This feature presupposes a necessary feature on the part of the computer. This model conforms to Energy Star and VESA DPMS (*1).) This model is also applicable to low-leakage electromagnetic fields (compatible with MPR-2), allowing for environmental and human engineering concerns.8. Compatible with Windows 95(R)
The public is calling for plug & play in order to resolve the trouble of connecting this model to personal computers or peripherals. To meet these needs, this model conforms to DDC 1/2B, thus ensuring compatibility with Windows (R)95.Trademarks
