Hitachi, Ltd. today announced the launch on April 23 of five services including
provision of information on validation of operation (Note) of Linux (a UNIX-family OS
whose source code can be freely obtained) on our PC/PC server, responding to inquiries
about introduction/operation of Linux, installation service, and education. Moreover,
these services initially cover "The Japanese redhat Linux" (Itsutsubashi Research Co.,
Ltd.) and "TurboLinux Japanese Version" (Pacific HiTech Inc.).
The services launched this time are five services including provision of information on
validation of operation of Linux on our PC/PC server such as the FLORA series and
HA8000 series, service of installing on a machine, education, responding to inquiries,
and technical service. In particular, regarding information on validation of operation of
Linux, we will provide detailed information on the Web such as disclosing the
steps of validation of operation in addition to validating operation and displaying results
in six stages for about seventy models of our products.
In the future, we will also expand our PC and PC server operations by providing further
a variety of choices with Linux as one of the operating systems of our PC/PC servers.
