London, September 15, 2014 --- Horizon Nuclear Power (Horizon) has today set out how people can have their say on its nuclear new build plans, paving the way for 10 weeks of consultation on the proposed multi-billion pound Wylfa Newydd power station on Anglesey.
Horizon will launch its first phase of public consultation on Monday 29 September, and has today published its Statement of Community Consultation (SOCC) which outlines what is being consulted on, how people can get involved, and how people will be able to have their say on the draft proposals.
The consultation is a major step in the planning process and is the first time people will be able to view Horizon's proposals for Wylfa Newydd in detail. People will be able to access information online, at a series of public exhibitions and at libraries across North Wales and Anglesey. "Our SOCC sets out our commitment to consultation and has been developed with support and input from the Isle of Anglesey County Council to ensure it meets the needs of local community. It outlines our approach to consultation and how people will be able to get involved and have their say on Wylfa Newydd."

Horizon Nuclear Power was formed in 2009 to develop new nuclear power stations in the UK. It was acquired by Hitachi Ltd of Japan in November 2012. The company is developing plans to build at least 5,400MW of new nuclear power generation plant at Wylfa on the Isle of Anglesey and Oldbury-on-Severn in South Gloucestershire. Its power station sites will employ up to 1000 people each once operational with a construction workforce of around 4,000, peaking at 8,500 for a short period.
