Tokyo, Feb. 24, 2022 --- Hitachi, Ltd. ("Hitachi") today announced that Hitachi has been recognized as one of the "Clarivate Top 100 Global Innovators 2022" by Clarivate Plc ("Clarivate"), which owns one of the world's largest patent databases. This honor is the 11th consecutive year since 2012 which recognizes Hitachi's achievements in the field of intellectual property ("IP").
Clarivate has selected the 100 global companies as "Clarivate Top 100 Global Innovators" annually since 2012 based on data from Clarivate's patent database, one of the largest in the world, and its patent research and analysis platform, as well as its own evaluation criteria. Companies that listed in the "Clarivate Top 100 Global Innovators" are recognized for their innovation, efforts to protect IP, and creation of inventions that have had an impact on the world.
Hitachi has formulated and implemented IP strategies that consists of three pillars: "competitive strategy" that focuses on the acquisition and utilization of IP rights, mainly patents; "collaboration strategy" that aims to utilize IP in the promotion of partnerships and the building of ecosystems; and "IP for society" that aims to make IP widely useful in solving social issues. In recent years, Hitachi has also been focusing on IP activities to contribute to the environment. For example, Hitachi is participating as a partner in "WIPO GREEN", a marketplace operated by the World Intellectual Property Organization to promote the diffusion of environment-related technologies and innovation.
