To be installed in the new, fully upgraded Spacia and Spacia Custom
Tokyo, December 27, 2017 ---Hitachi Automotive Systems, Ltd. has developed a central gateway that contributes to highly efficient information processing and highly reliable information communication within in-vehicle networks. Suzuki Motor Corporation has adopted this Hitachi Automotive Systems developed technology for the first time, to be installed in its new, fully upgraded light passenger vehicles, the Spacia and the Spacia Custom, from December 2017.
The number of electronic control units (ECUs) per vehicle, as well as the volume of information processed by these ECUs, has increased alongside the advancement of electronic control in automobiles in recent years. As a result, the communication networks that connect these multiple ECUs are increasingly complex, requiring high information reliability as well as highly efficient information processing within in-vehicle communication networks.
The central gateway installed in Suzuki's new Spacia and Spacia Custom acts as a relay function to monitor the large volumes of information exchanged between multiple ECUs. By only sending essential data to the ECUs, it contributes to higher efficiency of information processing and higher reliability of information within the in-vehicle communication network.
Hitachi Automotive Systems plans to further expand the functions of the central gateway to realize more advanced autonomous driving systems, as well as "connected vehicles" that can communicate with infrastructure and other elements of the outside environment.
Hitachi Automotive Systems will continue to fully utilize its advanced electronics technologies to provide highly reliable products that create new value for people, vehicles and society.
