Tokyo, November 8, 2018 -Hitachi Automotive Systems, Ltd. today announced that its stereo cameras are being used in the new ELF model manufactured by Isuzu Motors Limited. The new ELF, which features a range of safety functions, went on sale on October 29, 2018.
The transportation industry is currently facing a wide range of problems, including a shortage of labor. As a result, there is growing demand both for reducing burdens on drivers and for improving transportation efficiency by increasing the safety functions of freight vehicles. In response to these demands, manufacturers of commercial vehicles are actively seeking to equip their freight vehicles with advanced safety support technologies of even greater sophistication.
Isuzu's new ELF features numerous safety functions, including a collision mitigation braking system, adaptive cruise warning, lane departure warning, preceding vehicle start notification function, and erroneous start prevention function. Isuzu has chosen Hitachi Automotive Systems' stereo cameras-which have been well received by the market due to their successful utilization in passenger vehicles-as the optimal sensing product to realize these safety functions.
Today, there is growing demand for vehicle safety functions based on advanced safety support technologies. Moving forward, Hitachi Automotive Systems will therefore aim to expand adoption of its stereo cameras and other sensing products.
Hitachi Automotive Systems will continue to strengthen its development of automotive systems that both improve vehicle safety and reduce burdens on drivers, and contribute to the creation of advanced commercial and passenger vehicles.
