The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2030.
These goals constitute a specific action plan in which companies, governments, and communities around the world can work together to make humanity and the Earth flourish. They also set frameworks with a long-term perspective for companies, and are expected to actively promote action for sustainability.
Hitachi’s management strategy is to create new economic, social, and environmental value by providing innovative solutions and products.
We contribute to Goal 7 by reducing the energy consumption of elevating equipment, air conditioning, lighting, and other building services. The modernization of elevators, in particular, is expected to reduce power consumption by around 46% for elevators that were installed 25 years or more ago. We are also cutting power consumption and CO2 emission by reducing the control power used while elevators are standing by.*

We contribute to Goal 8 by creating local jobs through global business expansion. We thoroughly practice proper employment relationships and occupational health and safety, while also having a correct grasp of local legal systems, cultures, and customs.
We also promote working efficiency improvement and reform of working practices by using the IoT and AI.
The elevators, escalators, air conditioning, lighting, security systems, and other building services are essential for robust and sustainable urban development that allows all people to live with safety, security, and comfort.
We also contribute to urban development that remains livable, by installing post-construction elevators into existing buildings, modernizing old elevators, and using people-flow analysis to facilitate smart movement.
