The carbon footprint of products (CFP) is the CO2 equivalent of the total amount of greenhouse gases (GHGs) emitted over the entire life cycle of a product (or service), from the procurement of materials through disposal and recycling. As a concrete indicator of GHG emissions, CFP encourages efforts to reduce the amount of carbon emitted by products over their entire life cycle. For this reason, countries and regions around the world are adopting the CFP approach.
Hitachi participates in the EcoLeaf Environmental Labeling Program and is working to expand its number of Approved CFP Products.*1 In accordance with program rules, CO2 emissions are calculated and compared with those of conventional models to ensure the disclosure of highly specialized, transparent, and objective information on the effect of efforts to reduce CO2 emission.
In fiscal 2020, the Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform E990, E790, and E590 were newly verified and approved. Products approved in earlier years are introduced in our catalogs and on both internal and public-facing websites.
