With a spirit of inquiry and action,
Hitachi Global Research will lead co-creation to
drive innovation worldwide for a brighter future
for society and its people.
Based on our corporate mission to "contribute to society through the development of superior, original technology and products," Hitachi is aiming to further evolve its Social Innovation Business for a sustainable society using "Digital," "Green," and "Innovation" as means to resolve the challenges and drive the next growth (growth drivers). In these efforts, the Research & Development Group is focusing on driving innovation through Digital making full use of the technology platforms and know-how that we have developed and accumulated for our various business domains in an integrated way. Through co-creation with customers and partners, we have established a cycle of value creation to generate new solutions.
“Support people’s quality of life with data and technology that fosters a sustainable society.” In other words, a society that has both "planetary boundaries" to protect Earth and maintain society as well as “well-being” where every individual is comfortable and active. To realize this ideal society, Hitachi formulated the "2024 Mid-Term Management Plan" that lays out a roadmap for the evolution of its Social Innovation Business.
In light of the above, Research & Development Group is strengthening the creation of digital service businesses and radical innovations aiming to become a "Global Innovation Leader." Co-creating with customers and partners is an essential part of driving economic, social, and environmental values. We hope that you will join us as we move forward into the future.
As part of its focus on Social Innovation Business, Hitachi launched Lumada as a framework to accelerate digital innovation. Through Lumada, we are promoting co-creation to drive innovation and the digitalization of services to resolve challenges while deepening our understanding of our customer's next business challenges accelerating the creation of new value.
Based on the Lumada framework, the Research & Development Group is working to strengthen DX/GX from a value-driven perspective. We are using NEXPERIENCE, Hitachi's original co-creation methodology, to identify "signs" of change in society and our customers and formulate visions and design business scenarios.
Further, we are exploring challenges that society and our customers will face in the future through discussions with stakeholders such as international organizations, universities, corporations and start-up communities. We identified "environmentally neutral society," "active 100-year lifespan," and "co-evolution of digital, people, and society" as themes for the next pillars growth, and rising to the challenge of radical innovation by backcasting from 2050 to solve the challenges that will be faced by society and our customers.
