Enocoro is an energy-efficient high-performance stream cipher developed by Hitachi in 2007 based on the stream cipher MUGI. By slashing the number of internal-state-holding registers, Enocoro is implemented much more compactly than MUGI to achieve its remarkable energy efficiency. Enocoro also incorporates a new two-layer SPN structure that supports a more robust mixing function in registers, and also permits better security along with faster processing speed thanks to parallel processing in the two layers.
