The hidden node problem occurs in the case of wireless communications; namely, when two transmitting terminals simultaneously transmit data to a receiving terminal between them, interference between the two sets of transmitted radio waves occurs, and the receiving terminal becomes unable to receive the data from either transmitting terminal. In the case that, for example, the distance between the transmitting terminals is big or physical matter that impedes transmission of radio waves exists between the transmitting terminals, this problem is caused by terminals starting transmission inadvertently without being aware of the existence of other terminals.
