The fifth version of HTML (Hypertext Markup Language)—the markup language used for describing web pages.
In HTML5, it is defined specifications for developing high-level web applications as well as tags for reproducing video images and sound and tags for drawing graphics. Moreover, HTML5 brings advantages such as its ability to handle multiple platforms in one code and its way of making other web services easy to use.
Thanks to such advantages, it is drawing attention not only from the IT industry but also from the digital-home-appliance and car industries. Particularly in the field of telematics services, it is drawing attention as an application development environment. And the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium)—which is standardizing HTML5—is setting up a Working Group, called "Web and Automotive," responsible for studying HTML5 for use in vehicles.
