Explanation

An IGBT, "insulated gate bipolar transistor," is a transistor that enables switching at high speed; in other words, handling large currents and high voltages, an IGBT has the characteristic of being able to switch circuits on and off by controlling electric current. As a power-semiconductor device for controlling large amounts of power involved in, for example, power conversion and motor control, it is applied in products such as uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), industrial robots, railways, and electric vehicles.
