Multi-level Cell
MLC is a kind of memory cell used in flash memory. Data is recorded as two or more bits per memory cell. Since voltage can be set at intermediary values between "high" or "low", the effect of noise is easily incurred. Consequently, functions for automatically modifying correct data and correcting errors are necessary. However, the amount of data that can be stored in a MLC is more than twice that which can be stored in a SLC. It therefore provides large storage capacity at low cost per byte.
