Storage system that is an intermediate between online storage and offline storage based on the concept of data life cycle. Although it does not have the speed and performance of online storage, it provides rapid access when necessary, unlike offline storage systems such as magnetic tapes.
The system is mounted mainly with SATA drives, and features high capacity and low cost. Its suitability includes disk-to-disk(D2D) backups.
