Explanation

Storage device virtualization is a technology for consolidating plural entities of storage by managing them in such a manner that makes them appear to be a single entity. It makes it possible to manage and operate multiple entities of storage in a unified fashion. A merit of storage device virtualization is that it can be applied in a multi-vendor environment and enable management and operation of storage without the user being aware of differences between storage specifications of respective vendors.
