Explanation

A file sharing software developed in Japan in 2002 and using peer-to-peer communications technology. When downloading, it achieves rapid file sharing by passing data through a third-party PC having a fast communications link. Winny also has no mechanism, such as a user ID, to identify users, so there is no way for the user to determine what files have been sent or received from what PC. Because of this high level of anonymity, it has become a haven for non-legitimate use.
