Explanation

An episode from Greek mythology in which the Greeks defeated the Trojans through trickery during the siege of Troy. The Greeks presented the Trojans with a giant wooden horse, purportedly a gift, that actually was hollow and was filled with Greek warriors. By analogy in the context of computer software, a Trojan horse is a malicious program that looks useful or interesting to an unsuspecting user, but is actually harmful when executed.
